Our Story

Founded in January of 2021, Micellotech is the product of  CEO and Founder, Morgan Lehtinen, combining her love of chemistry with the importance of making a positive impact in the wastewater treatment sector. Micellotech will act as an overarching company that manages a variety of projects that create custom solutions for a clean water future. Her work with Prof. Guojun Liu from Queen’s University has led to the development of the SmartFilter. Morgan and her team are actively working toward a full scale solution by Fall of 2022.

 

Since founding, Morgan and the Micellotech team has been supported by some of the ecosystem's best entrepreneurial development programs, most notably being recognized as a Hello Tomorrow Deep Tech Pioneer, as a member of the Next 36 2021 cohort, and an alumni of the Creative Destruction Lab Matter Stream

Morgan Lehtinen is a high-energy, passionate individual, fueled by her purpose of using scientific innovation to create a sustainable future. Her mission to make industrial wastewater contamination in our water systems a problem of the past led to the founding of Micellotech, a cleantech start-up based on her Ph.D. research.

Morgan's vast experience building communities, leading organizations, communicating science and inspiring others to achieve their version of success has taught her the skills and values to execute on Micellotech's goals. A few notable experiences include:

  • Representing Canada at the Young Persons' World Lecture Competition in London, UK and placing 3rd Globally.

  • Co-founding the first ever Chemical Sciences Mentorship Program in Eastern Ontario.

  • Educating and empowering aspiring female entrepreneurs as Program Coordinator of Dunin Deshpande Queen’s Innovation Centre’s Konnect.

  • Being selected as the 2021 recipient of Queen's School of Graduate Studies Leadership, Innovation and Community Engagement Award.
